Let’s be honest, the NBA desperately wants to see their biggest market succeed. The Associations most valuable franchise being a dominant team or even a contender again, is the NBA’s wet dream.

If only we could go back to 1985.

Since the 2000-01 season, the New York Knicks have had a winning record three times.

No, I’m not here to reminisce on heartbreak, nor am I here to make Knicks fans relive the past. In fact, I figured out how to win for the foreseeable future. Steps, you may have already screamed at your TV — or ownership about.

 

4. Get a real Point Guard The Knicks have only  had a point guard average more than 8 assist a game only three times since the 2003-04 season.

I’m not advocating doing some dumb shit, like getting Chris Paul (although he will be a free agent). But I am saying go get someone like John Wall. How? [See #3]  That’s a big step toward winning if you don’t want to blow it up.

Another option is contact Tom Thibodeau, and see what it would take to get rookie Kris Dunn. I feel the kid has loads of potential, and if the fans of New York can be patient, he paired up with Porzingis could be a hell of a duo.

As you know by now, Derrick Rose isn’t, and wasn’t the answer. Ever.

3. Trade Carmelo

It’s no secret Melo has a no trade clause. But, the Knicks CAN NOT wait until 2019 to get better. Anthony is taking up too much of the salary cap, and his brand of basketball isn’t going to win you anything.

In the 5 full seasons Carmelo has played in New York, the Knicks have had 2 winning seasons. And that was the first two. This season is also heading in a losing direction despite Derrick Rose proclaiming them a Super Team.

So what destination would Melo least likely say no to? Boston.

Division foe aside, the Celtics are one piece away from being contenders, and Carmelo would have a fighting chance to win. On New York’s end, they can shed a huge salary, get a young piece back (Marcus Smart maybe), and have a high draft pick to get a young star… or so we hope.

2. Draft Better!

There have been a couple of decent picks over the years, and some really bad picks. Frankly, the last time the Knicks picked a franchise player (outside of possibly Porzingis), was this guy:

Lonzo Ball could be the Knicks point guard of the future if my last scenario played out.

 

1.Get rid of Phil For any of the above mentioned scenarios to happen, the ultimate chess move must happen first. Phil Jackson is the architect for the following moves:

Trading Tim Hardaway, Jr.

Trading Robin Lopez, Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant for Derrick Rose, Justin Holiday and a 2nd round pick.

Trading Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton to the Mavericks for Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert, Wayne Ellington, Shane Larkin and two second-round picks.

Trading J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert to the Cavaliers and got back Lou Amundson, Alex Kirk, Lance Thomas and a 2019 second-round pick.

 Resigned Carmelo Anthony on a five-year, $124 million contract with a no-trade clause.

Signed Joakim Noah to a four-year, $72 million contract

Which move was worse?

You can argue that amongst yourselves, but this All-Injury Prone First Team roster isn’t lifting any spirits.

Waiting until 2019 for both Carmelo and Phil to get out of the way is a long time to wait, especially for a fanbase like the Knicks have.

So send this to James Dolan and Adam Silver. Tell them if they want to see the Knicks win again, they must follow these steps. ✌🏿
